About Braeside Thika
Braeside Thika (BTH) is a prominent, co-educational international day and boarding school that serves students aged 3 to 18 (Early Years through Sixth Form). As a proud member of the established Braeburn Group of International Schools, BTH upholds a tradition of providing an education of the highest quality. While the school’s heritage traces back to 1969, the current campus was established in September 2013 on Mang’u Road in Thika, following the acquisition of the former Del Monte school by the Braeburn Group in January 2011. We are committed to ensuring every child develops into a confident individual, a responsible global citizen, and a successful lifelong learner.
📚 World-Class Curriculum and Academic Excellence
Braeside Thika provides a broad, balanced, and internationally-minded curriculum that prepares students for success at top universities worldwide.
British National Curriculum: The core academic program follows the National Curriculum of England and Wales from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) through Primary and Lower Secondary (Key Stages 1-3).
International Qualifications: In the Secondary and Sixth Form sections, students work towards globally recognized external qualifications:
IGCSE: The International General Certificate of Secondary Education from Cambridge International Education (CIE).
A-Levels: Advanced Level qualifications for university entry.
BTEC: The vocational Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) National Extended Diploma in Business, offered as a flexible pathway alongside A-Levels.
Personalized Learning: BTH embraces a philosophy of personalized learning, providing targeted support for both gifted and talented pupils and those requiring additional academic attention. This ensures every student is challenged and supported to achieve their maximum potential.
✨ Values, Ethos, and Holistic Development
BTH is driven by a mission to celebrate diversity and nurture personal growth in a fun, safe, and caring environment, emphasizing discipline and international-mindedness.
Holistic Growth: We maximize academic, physical, and artistic potential through a well-rounded experience. We place equal emphasis on core academics, Performing Arts (music, drama, annual productions), and a rigorous Sports program.
Global Citizenship: The school actively fosters a strong sense of internationalism, encouraging cultural understanding, tolerance, and open-mindedness among our multi-national student body.
Pastoral Care: A strong Pastoral Curriculum is central to our approach, ensuring students develop personal integrity, ambition, and responsibility for their own actions in a secure, ordered environment. This helps build the confidence, creativity, and courtesy needed for the 21st century.
Braeside Thika offers a vibrant, supportive, and structured international education right off Thika Road, ensuring a well-rounded experience for every child.
