About Mirema School
Mirema School, located on Mirema Drive in Nairobi, is a well-established Private Primary and Junior Secondary School renowned for its commitment to holistic Christian education and an inclusive learning environment. The school’s history is inspiring, having been founded in 1997 by Mr. A.J. Mutegi and Mrs. Margaret K. Mutegi, who converted their family home to start the school with just three children. Mirema School operates as a non-denominational Christian School, dedicated to supporting parents in fulfilling their biblical responsibility to educate their children.
Multi-Curriculum Pathways & Inclusivity
Mirema School stands out in the Nairobi educational landscape for its multi-curriculum approach and pioneering commitment to inclusivity, ensuring every child can realize their maximum potential.
Integrated Learning Systems: The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum, currently utilizing multiple streams to cater to diverse needs, including:
The Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC / 2-6-6-3) from Pre-school through Junior Secondary (Grade 7-9).
The traditional 8-4-4 Curriculum in the Upper School.
The International British Curriculum.
Pioneering Inclusivity: Mirema School was one of the first schools in Nairobi to actively accommodate children with learning difficulties, establishing a dedicated Special Needs Unit for learners we refer to as Differently-Abled. This integrated system allows all children to interact, learn from each other, and appreciate diversity.
Holistic Development: Our educational approach is guided by the verse Luke 2:52 (Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man), ensuring focus on the child’s physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs.
Core Values and Vision
Our vision is to be the leading institution that creates opportunities for individuals to realize their maximum potential. This is achieved through our motto, “”Be a Champion of Christ through Character, Commitment and Courage,”” and our lived values:
Christ-Centredness: Enhancing students’ knowledge of God and integrating His teachings with academic pursuits.
High Aspirations: Encouraging curiosity, inquisitiveness, and the development of high levels of numeracy and literacy skills.
Community: Fostering equity, justice, and an appreciation of our Kenyan and African culture in tandem with the global context.
Mirema School offers a unique, values-based learning environment where high standards of academics and character formation converge, moulding future generations for God’s glory.
