About Ofafa Jericho High School

Ofafa Jericho High School (OJHS) is a historic and highly regarded Extra-County Boys’ Boarding Secondary School located along Nile Road off Jogoo Road in the Makadara Constituency, Nairobi East District. Established in 1965, OJHS boasts a long and rich history in Nairobi’s educational landscape, initially operating from temporary sites before relocating to its current Jericho, Eastlands location in September 1967. Since 1998, OJHS has operated exclusively as a boys’ boarding school and has a clear mission: to be a Model School of Choice.

Curriculum Approach and Academic Direction
OJHS is committed to providing quality education that meets the evolving needs of its learners, with excellence as the only acceptable benchmark.

National Curriculum Rigour: The school delivers the comprehensive Kenya National Curriculum, ensuring thorough coverage of all subjects to prepare students for national examinations and future careers.

Competency-Based Transition: OJHS is adapting to the national shift by implementing the Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework at the Junior and Senior Secondary levels. This approach focuses on developing essential 21st-century skills alongside academic knowledge, including critical thinking, communication, and digital literacy.

Relevant Educational Services: The school’s mission emphasizes providing quality educational services that are relevant and continuously meet the needs of learners, fostering adaptability and problem-solving skills.

Values and Distinctive Ethos
The school’s motto, “”Success Our Pride,”” drives a culture of high standards, commitment, and integrity.

Core Values: OJHS is guided by strong values of commitment, fairness, and professional integrity. These values are instilled in the students to shape them into ethical leaders and responsible members of society.

Holistic Development: Beyond academics, OJHS places emphasis on co-curricular activities such as Sports (Rugby is notable), Debate, and various clubs (e.g., Christian Union, Mathematics Club, Environmental Club, Agricultural Club), aimed at developing and exploiting the gifts and talents of the students.

Boys’ Boarding Environment: Operating as a boys’ boarding school since 2011, the institution fosters a highly disciplined, focused, and communal living environment, crucial for mentoring young men into responsible citizens.

Community and Stability: The school enjoys a good rapport with the parent body and is a well-endowed, established provincial entity in the Eastlands area.

Ofafa Jericho High School provides a high-quality, values-driven secondary education, committed to excellence and developing successful, disciplined young men.
