About Wankan School

Wankan Girls High School is a well-established girls’ secondary school in Kenya, proudly rooted in the legacy of the Wankan Group of Schools, whose journey began in 1992 in Zimmerman, Ruaraka. As the institution grew, the secondary school relocated to Ruiru in 1996, allowing it to expand its educational vision while the original Zimmerman campus continued serving as a primary school. This strong foundation has shaped Wankan Girls into a respected name in girls’ education in Kenya.

Academic focus with a holistic philosophy
At Wankan Girls High School, education goes beyond classroom learning. The school embraces a balanced curriculum approach that nurtures intellectual growth alongside personal, social, and moral development. Learners are guided to become disciplined, confident, and responsible young women who are prepared to thrive in higher education and society at large.

Values-driven learning environment
Wankan Girls is deeply committed to instilling strong values, including integrity, responsibility, respect, and environmental awareness. The school has a long-standing culture of encouraging learners to be conscious stewards of the environment, fostering a mindset of sustainability, leadership, and service from a young age.

Strong community and alumni engagement
What sets Wankan Girls High School apart is its emphasis on lifelong relationships and community support. The school maintains close ties with former students, supporting their transition into universities and colleges and encouraging continued engagement beyond graduation. This sense of belonging strengthens mentorship, inspiration, and long-term success for current learners.

Social responsibility and character development
The school actively promotes social awareness and compassion, encouraging students to engage in initiatives that support vulnerable members of society. Through structured guidance, counseling sessions, and values-based activities, learners are nurtured to grow emotionally, socially, and ethically in a supportive environment.

Spiritual growth and moral grounding
Wankan Girls High School recognises the importance of spiritual development as part of holistic education. Learners are offered opportunities for spiritual guidance across major Christian denominations, helping them develop strong moral foundations, self-discipline, and respect for diverse beliefs.
